2023/2024 Bundaberg Turtle Season

Mon Repos Turtle Encounter is a ranger-guided turtle encounter and the only one of it’s kind on the east-coast of Australia.  The Mon Repos Centre is instrumental in the research of turtle conservation, specifically the endangered Loggerhead turtles that frequent this beach.

Experience this natural wonder thousands of years in the making at Mon Repos Conservation Park. Watch as mother turtles lay their clutches of eggs from November – January on a ranger-guided Mon Repos Turtle Encounter. In January – March form a pathway to the ocean for the baby turtles as they begin their dangerous journey into adolescence with only 1 in 1000 turtles making it to maturity.

Ranger guided encounters operate seven nights a week by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service..

Mon Repos is a beach off the coast of Bundaberg and supports the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on the Eastern Australian mainland. It also has the most significant loggerhead turtle nesting population in the South Pacific region.

Please be aware that turtles are wild marine animals and we cannot guarantee you will see either nesting turtles or hatchlings, on occasional evenings turtles do not arrive.

Between the months of November to April from 6pm and 6am, public access to Mon Repos beach and the walking trails is CLOSED.
